Instead of giving everyone cell phones which will be abused and cause other problems, why don’t we as a society take responsibility for the problem and fix the cause not bandage the wound. There is a dramatic lack of responsibility of the parents of children today. It is not the schools job to raise the kids, but to HELP the PARENTS raise the kids. It has nothing to do with where you live or where you where born or what color you are (those are crutches not causes) but how you were raised. People need to get off their butts and stop looking for handouts and blaming others for their laziness and take responsibility. Kids no longer have the respect for others that was taught to my generation, or my parents etc. They are taught by friends or TV or music or whatever to only care about themselves and what they can have or deserve. Until we change that, until we devote the time and love that our kids need, they will only continue to get worse, because we are allowing that to happen.

OK now your the rude one..It’s the truth and I would want someone to tell me the truth like I just said......even though it’s true he is in still in my thoughs and prayers cause it’s a true tragedy and it breaks my heart to see someone do that....

Jgirl, Yes that was rude and God does not like ugly. Since we were not in his thoughts and Know nothing about him or what he was doing, lets pray for him now.

Not to be rude but why does everyone say that God is with him now...Killing your self is not a forgive able sin...Everyone just wants to think happy thoughts like oo he is in peace.......There are two places after death Heaven or Hell...I know we all mess up but if he was truely a Christian he would have trusted in God to help him though his problem instead on someone else or this.....

I believe this young man needed the 12 counselors yesterday. He obviously had some heavy things on his mind.  He needed a mentor or teacher or someone he could trust to talk to.  He made a statement by going to the school, it was his cry for help and his way of saying good-bye to those who ignored him.  What a Tragedy.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family.  I hope they do not take this as being their fault.  Sometimes when we punish our children and make the choice of Tough Love it is hard, but the ending result can be the same.
God has him now and he is no longer crying from the inside/out.

Some times the ones in charge don’t do there job so a student has to step up to do it...I seen it done before.....and yes CELL PHONES SHOULD BE IN SCHOOLS I even had teachers tell me that....

That was my point earlier. Help should be called for by those in charge. No offense to the college student who posted, but there are times when those in charge should be left to do our jobs and the responsibilities that have been bestowed to us. Not to mention the fact that the law is the law. Cell phones should not be in the hands of students while in class.

Why is everyone talking about students having cellphones? That is ludicrous. The teachers all have cell phones and they can call for help. What everyone SHOULD be talking about, is when are the schools going to get metal detectors so no one can get in with a gun?

as a student, there are MANY things that teachers do not understand about cell phones or rather, should i say you do not understand about cell phones. at the university i attend, a rely on my cell phone in case of emergencies; alert texts are sent immediately to my phone in an emergency. i would have no way of knowing I was in immediate danger otherwise. a phone call can save lives. the sooner someone calls for help, the sooner help can arrive. as for cheating and distractions, i have tests in classes of 300 or more. sure, people cheat, but it’s cracked down on because the teachers are watching. you would have to be blind not to realize someone’s on there phone. not once have i been distracted by a cell phone in class. if you think cell phones are the only place kids are watching porn, then you have another thing coming. if it’s that big of a deal to have a phone ring, then take it up or kick the kid out. it’s that simple.
