People don’t understand why this kid did what he did?  It’s because he got caught robbing the Dairy Queen on Moffet Rd and was among two other men who fired guns in the store severely traumatizing my step daughter, her boyfriend and others trying to close that night.  He is also suspected of other robberies as well.  You want to know why you don’t hear from his family?  It’s because his mother is a judge in Mobile County who arranged to get him tried as a juvenile even though he was 18.  She also arranged for him to not have to post any bail while the other two robbers, one 32 and one 17 both were required to post bond in order to get out of jail until their trials.  I suggest Mobile County takes a look into the integrity of the judicial system there.  I don’t want to read about hard times for this person.  My stepdaughter had a gun fired next to her ear, still has problems hearing and is undergoing counselling due to what this person did.  I don’t want to hear about his hard times.

I am so sorry that this happened. What I want to know is where is JaJuan’s family? We have not heard from anyone concerning his family; a spoke person or anyone. I am praying for his family, for the Davidson family, and all involved. It saddens my heart that he felt such desperation that he felt this was his only option. What is so bad is that there are many more JaJuan’s out there, looking, searching, reaching out for help… Is someone going to help them?

i am a student at Davidson high school and was there today to witness this tragedy. this young man was going through very hard times..we need to stop asking if cell phones should be allowed and worried about things that matter… what about gangs. there is not one person in that school that can not say he/she has not herd people talking about being in them,or seen the gang signs or flags.where were the teachers when he was giving out the signs i mean the aren’t they supposed to be trained in spotting things like this? and im sure Jajuan Holmes would want to know that what he did today could help other people realize that no matter where you were borne or what color that in the end we will all need to pull together and help each other out and stop with all the fighting, drugs, gangs and weapons and the only people that can do that is the student body.. not the teachers, principles, or even the county. if this means anything to anyone than we as a school and county need to do this 4 him

I am so sorry for the family of Jajuan. However, I thank God that he did not hurt anyone else.

Why is everyone harping on the cell phone issue?? Cell phones has NOTHING to do with what happened today. And I for one and glad that my daughter has a cell phone and takes it to school. My child does not attend Davidson, however, several of my co-workers children do and one in particular was distraught to the point of breaking down until she received that all important cell phone call from her son telling her he was okay!
***Keep on point with your comments here.... a precious life was lost today. My deepest sympathy to the family...... and hopefully this is a wake up call to the Mobile County School Board to step back and take a better look at the safety of our children at school.

Nice post, southernpride7....

When I was in school and received a paddling in school, I was required to tell my parents when I got home, knowing that I was about to receive a second one.  If I didn’t, it was much worse because I knew the teacher would call.  And strange thing happened....I turned out to be a productive member of society, complete with an education and the ability to do just about anything I set my mind to do.  I also respect my elders.

I agree with you that before the psychobabblists took over and told us how we were damaging our children that our children were much farther ahead of the curve.

The other thing, if anyone cares to comment, is that we have “too much stuff”.  I never had everything I wanted, but I thing very few really do without any more.  We buy it any way we can get it....and if we can’t buy it, we borrow to buy it, and if we can’t do that, we try to steal it.  I still recall the things I really worked for....

jajuan is not a bad person,he would never hurt anyone. He was obvousily under slot of pain and going threw something.
I knew jajuan as a friend and never thought he would do that.
I say we will never be safe at school because of all the diffrent things people go threw daily. You never know what anyone is gonna do. As a live witness of this i truely say this a tragic thing and will take time to get over.

Every forum that I have been to has someone who thinks that it is their place to correct others’ spelling. I do not feel that it helps any issue to always have one smart a** to play teacher. I use short hand a lot as well as text typing where words are shortened for more room in a conversation. If I mis-spell a word but you have the ability to read typos then please do so. I do not comment for someone to make opinions or corrections about my posts. I also feel that if you can not keep the comments in reference to the topic, then don’t say anything. That is a big reason people do not get along in today’s society. It is really sad how we treat each other.

You know I said some things earlier about the generation when I went to school no we didnt need the cell phones. I just really want to say that the school system has went down since they took 2 things out of schools. PADDLING and PRAYER!!!

I believe cell phones are no harm in schools. Like it was said in another comment, you can’t cheat on a test with them, teachers spot them all the time. As long as you don’t call people in the middle of class, or text while the teacher is up there teaching, they really don’t seem to care.

The baggy pants thing is a real big issue at school. I think the uniform pants hang out, and I know that at my school they have gotten more strick on the uniform policy, telling people to tuck in their shirts and pull their pants on. I personally believe that it is degrading, but if people want to do it they will.

On the other hand with baggy pants, I seen a video on you tube that shown how many weapons, from small to large you can fit in baggy pants and big jackets. It was quite scary to see what all you can hide in such clothing. Like I said before, I think metal detectors and more security would be better for the schools, and help in future cases like this or worse.
