A veteran Fort Walton Beach High School boys tennis and golf coach has been arrested and charged with 50 counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under the age of 16. Coach Raymond Totten, Junior was arrested Tuesday afternoon following an in-depth police investigation conducted by the Ft. Walton Beach Police Department.

"We just think this is the sickest thing to ever happen, I have a son that goes to school here," says parent Cynthia Davidson. "Something needs to be done and this doesn't need to be swept under the rug, these kids are being ruined by his actions, it ruins their life."

Investigators say Totten sexually abused a male student at Ft. Walton Beach High School dozens of times since December.

Totten was immediately placed on paid administrative leave by the Okaloosa County School Board. School officials say Totten could eventually be placed on unpaid leave and could eventually be fired if convicted.

"It's extremely disappointg," says Mike Foxworthy with the Okaloosa County School District. "It's not only disappointing as an educator but as a citizen."

Totten is being held without bond in the Okaloosa County Jail. Detectives say at first, Totten denied the charges but was found destroying pornographic images of the boy on a portable flash drive while be held in an interrogation room at police headquarters.

“Administrative leave”, isn’t that a hoot?  Caught red-freakin’ handed and he could possibly be put on unpaid leave or even fired!  Oh my God, not fired!  People wonder why I’m spending my retirement to keep my kids out of the public school system?

Sad thing is, they’ll give him 5 years, let him out, and he’ll be a janitor at some other school in 6 years. I would have thought they would have searched him prior to entering the interrogation room. I guess luckily for them they salvaged the evidence, and it wasn’t a knife that he had in his pocket.
