There were some anxious moments Tuesday night in an Escambia County, Florida neighborhood.Escambia County Sheriff's Deputies closed an area of Pine Forest Road from Nine Mile Road to Interstate 10 shortly after 6:00.
They say deputies were checking on the welfare of a person at 9235 Pine Forest Road when they heard gunshots.
Authorities believe the man inside the house had a high powered rifle, so they took precautions.
And people who lived in the neighborhood weren't able to get home or check on their friends for a while.
Glenn Austin with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office said, "We called out SWAT, surrounded the area, cleared out the whole area, making sure that he didn't run out the back. And so that's where it stood for a long time."
Laraine Stackhouse was waiting in a car, trying to make sure people she knew in the area were safe.
She said, "They had a shootout once before in there, when we had our kids in there, so that's why we stay away. We're in Molino. We stay up that way."
Authorities said after about four hours, deputies and family members talked to the man by phone, the situation calmed down and they were able to open the roads. Roy Hinote was arrested around 11:30pm last night in the 700 block of Myrick Street, under Pensacola's Barrancas Bridge.
Austin said Hinote had a .308 caliber rifle with a scope when he was captured.
Investigators have determinded Hinote fired 3 shots last night.
