House and Senate committees have approved bills that would bag the state sales tax on groceries. Shoppers say they'll take any help they can get.
Like anything else, going to the grocery store these days can be an adventure as prices continue to go up. Now there maybe a little help on the horizon.
State lawmakers are trying again to eliminate the four cent state sales tax on groceries. "It's actually probably a good idea for the people who can't afford groceries bad idea for schools and stuff," says shopper Lisa Brunker.
Alabama lawmakers have tried to eliminate the state tax for years, in fact Alabama is one of the few states that still has a state sales tax on groceries.
To make up for lost revenue, lawmakers would eliminate the state income tax deduction for federal income taxes paid and also raise the threshold at which Alabama families start paying taxes.
Keeping four cents of every dollar you spend on groceries may not sound like a lot but in today's economy, shoppers say every little bit helps.

Sounds good to me!  Now they need to do the same with gas!!!!!!!!

Life is funny.  When all my kids were still tax deductions we used more services, such as public schools, etc.  Now that they are grown and gone, all I use are a couple of county roads and an Interstate highway.  But, the tax man really wants to slap a hurtin’ on me these days.  Life….... lol
