Burglar Elderly Woman 81-year-old woman shoots a burglar who was washing his clothes in her laundry room.

81-year-old woman Ethel Sanders heard someone in her laundry room just before 8 o'clock this morning. She grabbed her gun, opened the door and saw a man standing there in his underwear. James Penn was using her washing machine to wash his clothes, including the clothes off his back.
Sanders tells News Five that she shot Penn in the gut when he came at her. According to Mobile Police, Sanders fell to the ground and dropped the gun. Penn picked it up and pointed the gun at Sanders while he removed his clothes from her washer. Penn then took off. Police did not say whether he stopped to get dressed.
Penn was arrested a short time later at the Plateau Community Center, which is just down the street. He was taken to USA Medical Center. Once Penn is released, he will be charged with burglary.
