City Hall building in 1905 but was postponed due to a hurricane.
The building was complete in 1908.
On Monday, the city is holding a celebration for the 100th
anniversary of the building.
The city hall is built is brick and faced with Italian marble.
It served as a federal post office, courthouse and customs house
until 1960.
The city moved from a combination city hall, courtroom and jail
on Main Street into the current city hall in 1960.
At Monday's celebration, a Biloxi student will portray Laz
Quave, the Biloxi mayor who traded the federal government the
building for the Howard school site and $16,000.
The city hall was damaged in Hurricane Katrina in August 2005.
Mayor A.J. Holloway said a larger celebration is planned when that
work is done.
