MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Bob Riley has left on a trade
mission to South America.
Riley's press secretary, Tara Hutchison, says the governor left
Friday for a 10-day trip to Colombia, Chile, Argentina and Brazil.
He was accompanied by executives of Alabama companies seeking to
develop markets in South America.
Before leaving on the trip, the governor said the State Docks in
Mobile gives Alabama a unique opportunity to take advantage of the
South American market.
Riley left while the Legislature is meeting in special session
to try to pass an education budget. Hutchison says it appears the
budget will be passed on Saturday and that will be the final day of
the special session.
