News 5 Investigates Insurance Reform and we want YOU to ask some tough questions.

We're headed to Montgomery next week and will ask a group of our leaders to get the answers you need.

From sky-rocketing premiums to dropped coverage, we've heard from many of our viewers about how the crisis is affecting families.

If you have something to ask, send us an email.

We'll come to your house and shoot video of you asking the question or you can attach a video file in an email.

Put your thinking caps on and roll that camera!

Why can insurance companies raise the value of your home in order to increase premiums without asking the homeowner first? Adjustments are necessary but my ins. co. gets way overboard like 20% appreciation in one year.  I only wish my house would appreciate that much.

How can ins. companies hold homeowner’s hostage with a secret database called the “Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange”?  Most people have no idea about this database managed by ChoicePoint and that it holds valuable info about their history of claims.  Ins. co. need to educate their customers about how they use this information and how we can access it.

Why can ins. co. make partial payment on claims until the repairs are completed?  After Ivan I had to front 50% of the cost for my roof until the repairs were done.  This only temps people to not repair their homes, which is not what needs to happen.

It’s hard for us small folks to fight this stuff because of all their lawyers and lobbyists.

My Question would be, “ What penalities are the insurance companies going to face for the corrupt pratices they have been doing by dropping homeowners that do not have all of their insurance though the one company. ie car insurance, life insurance and homeowners? “ I know that it has been stated that is illegal, so what are you going to do about it?

I’m not real sure I understand what is wanted with this?  But, my question who have to do with why arbitrary lines are drawn on a map and everyone located below a certain Long./Lat. gets their teeth kicked in by insurance companies.
