Text messaging is popular these days, but now, you can use your cell phone to send a message of thanks to U.S. troops.

You can send a "Giving Thanks" text message now through Thanksgiving night. Just send your message of thanks to 89279. The "Giving Thanks" program is part of America Supports you, a program which connects citizens with military personnel and their families.

Major mobile wireless providers are participating in the event, including AT&T, Verizon, Sprint Nextel and T-Mobile.

If you don't have a cell phone to send a text message, you can also send a message over the internet from the America Supports You website.

From one old enlisted Vet to you, Thanks.
I remeber that it’s not easy.  But the hard part is that when you come home, those who have not walked in your footsteps and haven’t seen or smelled what you have won’t understand you.  The converse is also true.  You won’t understand them, they will seem shallow.  It’s OK - their world has not changed but your has truely expanded.
Again - “THANKS for your daily effort and sweat, Terry
