UNDATED (AP) - The national average price for unleaded gas now
tops the $4 a gallon mark.
AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report finds a gallon of regular unleaded
going for just over $4 today, up a notch from yesterday's $3.98
mark.
The highest average prices are in states like Alaska,
California, Connecticut and Washington state. The lowest can be
found in states that include Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, South
Carolina and Tennessee.
AAA says gas prices have gone up an average of about 33 cents a
gallon since this time last month. Analysts say that's about 90
cents since this time last year.

At the rate fuel is rising how do people decide btween drinking and driving? Hard to see how people can afford to do both. Which is good! Now maybe people will have to decide between talking on a cell phone or driving. Another thing, Aren’t red lights a huge waste of fuel? Maybe?

Now that would be something to see, QE2 getting refuelled by one of the flying tankers made in mobile, Course the tanker would have to fly in a tight circle with the hose dangling down to QE2. Sort of reminds you of a June bug tied on a string again, don’t it ?

Let’s see-- that works out to about 117 gallons a mile ! Boy I bet they have to plan all their trips around the nearest gas stations. HMMMM-- maybe we should see if we could build some tankers for the oceans too, SHHHHHH-don’t tell BOEING.

Not that any of us will be going to work via the Queen Elizabeth 2, but did you know that depending upon the conditions, she averages 40 to 50 FEET per gallon of diesel fuel. That is a gas bill.

just a side not, you guys were talking earlier about all the govt. restrictions on drilling, etc. when the GOVERNMENT started building the border fence in texas, it took them months to get started b/c they were having to work through THEIR OWN RESTRICTIONS. finally, they just said to hell with it and suspended the restrictions so they could build the fence and quit wasting money. our government needs to get out of the way and let companies drill.

carl, our oil companies are small potatoes compared to global oil companies, i was shocked the ceo of chevron almost lost his job because of standing up to the ones in the company that wanted to stop domestic drilling.  rockefellers are chevron oil, wanted to stop domestic drilling but the majority of the share holders voted for domestic drilling and kept the ceo in.  some idiot on news saying high fuel prices are good to teach us to conserve saying if we conserve gas should only go to 4.50 a gallon what a dork.

mark, oil started climbing before 9/11 i saw it jump 12-15 cents a gallon the day the uss cole was hit, i do not blame the oil companies as much as congress not doing anything to allow the drilling of american oil.

I would have more sympathy for the large oil companies if I could see them doing something pro-active to help relieve the situation like aggressively pushing for increased drilling and refining, instead of sitting on their hands and reaping Hugh profits. I get the feeling that they are happy with the way things are right now and don’t want to rock the boat and that they feel they owe more to their stock holders and businesses than they do to the American public. At this time they have the money and influence to just about get anything they want passed in Washington that they wish, but you see no such actions. This is a big win for the large oil companies either way it goes.

the first real time that gas went up was 911. then katrina, the the war. when will it stop. brace yourselves but we are headed for another great depression. MY THANKS GOES OUT TO THE OIL COMPANIES. THANX FOR KILLING OUR ECONOMY.
