Despite the decision from the Government Accountability Office, the city of Mobile will have its "Celebrate Mobile Parade" Friday night. The metal barricades are already lining the streets of the parade route.
We're told the parade is a celebration of Mobile's economic success such as the expansion of Austal, the Thyssenkrupp steel plant, and the new Airbus engineering center.
City officials say even though the decision on the Air Force tanker contract is up in the air, Mobile still has every reason to celebrate.
"Our local leaders have done a lot of work to get Mobile into this global eyes, into the international and national market place and as Mayor Sam Jones said yesterday, the fight is not over it's only beginning so the parade is on and we want everyone to come out," said City of Mobile Spokesperson Barbara Drummond.
Streets along the parade route will begin closing at 4:30 Friday afternoon.
Because of the Carrie Underwood show, the parade will begin at Canal and Washington Avenue -- continue to Government -- then around Bienville Square -- and end past the Civic Center on Claiborne.
