Chastang was removed from his position after a three judge panel ruled that riley violated the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Merceria Ludgood has been serving as district one county commissioner.
She beat Chastang in a special election.
Ludgood hopes she this ruling doesn't remove her from office.
"So what happens now? I don't really know the answer to that. If the governor decides that he's going to appoint then I'm sure I'm going to be there asking him to appoint me. During this interim period, I don't have any opposition so I'll be back either way. So we'll just see what happens," said District One Mobile County Commissioner Meceria Ludgood.
The governor's office said Riley will confer with his legal staff to determine the impact this Supreme Court ruling has on the current Mobile County Commission.
