The Orange Beach Police Department is investigating a death at a local apartment complex. Donald Moody's body was found inside his Canal Road duplex Monday morning by his girlfriend. The former Tennessee police officer was found collapsed on the living room floor.
"At this point, we're not ruling out anything," says Lt. Steve Brown with the Orange Beach Police Department. "This is an open investigation."
Detectives say there was no sign of a struggle but tell News 5 they're looking at all angles, including looking into Moody's personal life.
"We're waiting on toxicology results to come back from the medical examiner's office," says Brown.
Rumors about Moody's death, including illegal activity and murder, are spreading like wildfire in Orange Beach.
"There is a lot of buzz here," says Brown. "Particularly online in chat rooms and in blogs, but at this point, they're strictly rumors. We're going to work with facts, not with rumors."
