TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida university students could payabout $400 more per year in tuition under a new proposal.
It was approved Thursday by a committee of the university
system's Board of Governors. It still must be approved by the full
board, but most of members are on the budget committee that voted
5-4 for the increase.
Florida ranks last among the states in four-year tuition and
fees charged by public universities. The proposal before the board
would raise that to rank Florida about 39th in the nation.
If approved by the full board, the increase would start in the
fall.
