MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - The Gulf Coast hurricane season brings a
risk of flooding and officials warn it only takes one storm to
cause major flood damage.
FEMA says flood insurance is a critical part of being properly
prepared for the six-month hurricane season that officially starts
Sunday. But flood policies typically take a month to go into
effect, so the time to act is now.
Since 2004, Alabama has been hit by the three major hurricanes
in the Gulf Coast - Ivan, Dennis and Katrina. The average flood
insurance claim in Alabama over this time period was $56,500.
Despite the risks, FEMA says, the majority of Alabama residents
are still not protected with flood insurance. Last year, a quarter
of all flood claims came from residents in low- to moderate-risk
areas.

Here’s to all those years I had coverage and had no claims and watched as thousands made claims that had no coverage but were still paid just the same, Now at this time I have no coverage and can’t make any claims, I guess this makes us all the same!  CRIES FROM THE RECENTLY UNINSURED. downer

Let’s See, most everyone working or retired is on a fixed income, with very little to none in savings, Insurance now covers very little and is priced out of reach if they will even write you coverage, property tax’s can’t be paid monthly only at the end of the year if you don’t have a mortgage, the monthly bill for buying a house is as bad as the insurance prices, fuel is out of sight, groceries are going up, if your credit rating is not perfect you pay high and higher charges, auto insurance is high, etc. not even counting the cost of raising kid’s, helping parents, etc.  where do you thing the extra money is coming from, what bills don’t get paid this month, what med’s are not gotten, how many don’t go to the Dr. etc.
It Ain’t Gonna Get Better till our elected city, county, state, federal officials get off their high horses and work together for the betterment of all of us!
