TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Highway Patrol will becracking down on speeders this weekend.
"Operation Safe Ride" is a statewide effort. Troopers will be
patrolling every Interstate, the Florida Turnpike and other major
roads from Friday to Sunday.
According to the highway patrol, March and April are peak months
for traffic crashes in Florida. The goal of this effort is to crack
down on drivers speeding during the spring break weekend.
Troopers will be using radars and lasers to catch speeders while
in marked and unmarked patrol vehicles. Troopers piloting aircraft
will also be used to spot violators from the air and then direct
troopers on the ground to pull them over.
