Pleas are pouring in to adopt 30 adult pit bulls and five puppies that are part of a Milton dogfighting case. The Santa Rosa County Animal Services says because the animals are considered evidence, they cannot be adopted, or even viewed by the public. Raymond Teamer was arrested Monday after a seven month investigation. Many of the dogs found on Teamer’s property had injuries consistent with dog fighting. It’s unclear what will eventually happen to the dogs. "Unfortunately in some of these situations, some of these dogs will be euthanized, and although it's hard to say, it's better for that to happen then these dogs have to fight to the death," said Sgt. Scott Haines. Animals Services says it appreciates the concern but ask for the public’s understanding of the strain such a large influx of animals puts on the staff. The shelter says while the animals are not available for adoption, Santa Rosa County Animal Services has many cats and dogs of all ages that are in need of a home. Adoptable animals can be viewed on the county website.

More Trouble for Jimmy Johns

Funny, I thought the article would say they were not available for adoption for public safety, not because they are “evidence”. I understand pit bulls are good pets if brought up correctly. These were not. Who in their right mind would bring home one of these dogs? The puppies are good, but what is the fighting history on the rest? I say children come first and if there is any chance that a particular dog would ever attack a child, “that dog must be removed”.
