The Coast Guard rescued fifteen people from the forty six foot fishing boat "Elissa" after it caught fire in Bon Secour Bay near the Intracoastal Waterway at approximately 730pm Saturday. A passenger aboard the vessel reported the fire, and told the Coast Guard that the crew had put a life raft over the side.
Six people were in the life raft, and eight others went into the water. All passengers and crew were rescued by the Coast Guard with no injuries to anyone.
The vessel was taken in tow. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Vicki Collier and Darrell Cameron were on board the boat and talked to news 5 about what happened.
