FBI agents arrested a Washington County teacher who's accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student.Charlene Schmitz was in court this afternoon for a bond hearing. After that hearing, the FBI took her into custody on federal charges of using a computer to entice a child.
Schmitz was originally arrested June 22nd after the mother of a 14-year-old boy gave police dozens of sexually explicit e-mails she claims Schmitz sent her son. The 54-year-old Schmitz, who teaches English at Leroy Middle School, was placed on paid administrative leave and released on bond.
As part of the bond agreement, the judge barred Schmitz from having any contact with the alleged victim. But the Washington County Sheriff's Department says she ignored that order Friday night when she sat next to the teenage boy during the game.
During today's bond hearing, Washington County agreed to drop the "tampering with a witness" charge stemming from Friday night's football game so the FBI could take her into custody.
