For the third time since becoming head of the FBI, Robert Mueller visited Mobile this morning.
Mueller toured the local field office and praised the efforts of the agents that work there.
Mueller also spoke to the media about the FBI's working relationship with state and local law enforcement. "We recognize for us to be successful it is going to be the combination of our efforts and the efforts of other law enforcement entitites," said Mueller.
During his visit, the FBI Director recognized the Prichard Police Department and Police Chief Lawrence Battiste for their effort in Operation A-Train, an investigation into a drug trafficking operation which started in Houston, Texas and ended in Prichard. Twenty suspects were indicted early this year in the case.
"This was a substantial organization," said Mueller. "It had successfully imported into the U.S. kilos of cociane over a period of time.
Mueller's last visit to Mobile was in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina.
