A jailhouse recorded conversation between Luong and his attorney paints a very different picture in the capital murder case that has the country's attention.

Attorney Joe Kulakowski says his client claims he didn't throw his kids off the Dauphin Island Bridge. "Well, it just got to the point where they weren't satisfied with anything that he was gonna say and he just come up with something for them to stop interrogating him."

Kulakowski says his client told police he tossed 3-year old Ryan, 2-year old Hannah, 1-year old Lindsey and 4-month old Danny... but recorded a very different conversation with him lawyer from the jail.

Kulakowski "What do you want me to tell them?"
Luong "Tell them babies still alive."

Luong's attorney says his client doesn't know why a massive search is going around the bridge. He told him in the taped statement that the kids are not there.

Kulakowski "Well, they're not gonna find nothing in the water?"
Luong "No cuz they not there. l know where my kids at. I bring them back. I bring them home. They don't have to say anything. I bring my kids home."

Luong explained to his attorney that he left his children with a woman named Kim. "He tells me that you're not gonna find the children in the water. Look in the Vietnamese communities and the fishing communities. Hopefully, the children will be discovered."

Tiffany Craig asked, "And you believe him? Kulakowski responds, "Now that's a difficult question for you to ask now."

It's still unclear if there is a woman named Kim involved in this case or who she might be.

Kulakowski is Luong's newly appointed attorney and the men met for the first time Thursday when Luong was denied bond.

Even with this new twist in the case, investigators are sticking by their original story.

In my opinion, they ought to go ahead and give the detective(s)
who questioned the guy a polygraph, just for good measure.
If the man accused doesn’t speak English that well, then there may be a slight chance the confession was a false one or a miscommunication occurred.
I think they ought to call the FBI in and let them check it out. They would most likely solve it very swiftly.
They are experienced at this kind of thing and kidnapping (possibly
across state lines) has already been indicated, hasn’t it? So there is good reason to call them in now if they haven’t done it yet.
Let’s look at the whole possible picture first, folks, before we hang a man. Remember how many innocent people just got released in the Texas prison system with DNA tests who were falsely convicted and “coerced” into confessions by small town “ambitious” cops.
It can happen. If the guy is guilty, he should be put to death, no doubt. But let’s find out the truth.
