Family members told News Five that they were asleep when one of their children woke them up saying the house was on fire.
Kennard Williams and his wife tried to grab all of their eight children, but they couldn't get to their oldest son, who was trapped near the front of the house--where the fire started.
The father said there were smoke detectors in the house, but he didn't hear them go off.
"When the inspector came to inspect the house, they're working fine. Now when all of a sudden the fire broke out, no smoke detectors. If it hadn't been for my four year old, we all probably would've got killed in the house," said father Kennard Williams.
The fire is still under investigation.
The family's nine-year-old daughter is in the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
She's listed in fair condition. To hear why the father believes an electrical problem killed his son, click on video to your right.

“Collection pods will be set up Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church for Williams’s family donations. There’s also an account set up at Regions bank. You can go to any branch and ask for the Williams family account. “
The house is not located where it would have ever flooded. Chickasaw has pretty strict rules about rental homes being inspected. Unfortunately, the older mill homes tend to burn very quickly.
