Police in Saraland are investigating a disturbing case of child abuse.

Investigators said it involved the child's father.

Saraland police said a two and a half month old girl appeared to have been bitten several times.

They say she also had other bruises on her body.

Police have arrested the father of the child, Christopher William Bunch.

Bunch is charged with aggravated child abuse.

Police said the child was found at the Saramont Apartments on Highway 43 after they answered a call of a domestic disturbance there.

Sergeant Leroy Smith with the Saraland Police Department said, "Any time a child is injured, it’s horrible. They're innocent. They're depending on us, the adults to take care of them, feed them, house them and protect them. But then we have adults that turn around and abuse them."

The two and a half month old girl was taken to USA Women's and Children's Hospital for her injuries to be evaluated and treated.

I still say, DHR could have been notified, emergency petition for child custody through the Youth Center/Circuit Court (a person can do this on their own!) filed, local police called. It is a shame that families hesitate to cause problems for their problem makers. I too hope the story is followed up and in a few weeks we see a healthy, smiling, bouncing baby girl!

Horsewhisperer, your family and the baby are in my prayers. I pray that the baby never has to back to these parents, but can have loving upbringing elsewhere.

What I meant by something was not quite right was the way the parents of the baby were acting. They had the baby wrapped in a blanket & I could only see her face & they only allowed me to hold her for a couple minutes & then took her back & the baby was crying the whole time I was there. The parents of the baby have not allowed the grandparents to see her for over a month & with the laws passed 2000 grandparents have no rights, so they couldn’t see the baby even though they wanted to very badly & tried to on many occasions, but was told they had no rights, if we dont want things like this to happen in Alabama we need to change the laws so grandparents have the right to check on the children to make sure their being taken care of.

I’m speechless! Something was “not quite right”? Hard to believe you can hold a baby and not see the marks she has. Sounds like people are afraid of the dad more than just the baby and mom doesn’t want to give up “dear old dad”!  Sorry, I pray for the child, but, the parents can go straight to ***.

That is my neice. I assure you the mother is being investigated. The parents of the mother havent been allowed to see the baby for a month but they let me & her brother go. Tuesday I noticed something wasnt right but didnt know what it was until we all seen it on the news. Please pray for our family & the baby girl. Thanks!!!

The man who bit his baby daughter is truly a “bad seed.” He needs to be planted about six feet under.

Good point, Jacie.  I hope we hear where the mother is/was.  Both should be charged--and charged with something besides child endangerment,etc.- Something that will make keep them behind bars where they belong.

DUH! Where is the mother and as far as I’m concerned, if the woman sat by and did nothing she is just as guilty as the dad and should be arrested also!
