COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) - A Lowndes County teenager has died from
injuries she suffered from jumping out of a moving vehicle.
Authorities say 16-year-old Sierra Brown was being driven by her
stepfather to New Hope High School Wednesday when she suddenly
leapt from the rear passenger door and landed in a ditch.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant says Brown died from a
closed head injury.
Merchant said the incident was possibly the result of Brown's
dismay over being transferred from Columbus High School to New Hope
High School.
He says Brown had expressed strong feelings earlier that morning
of not wanting to go to New Hope.
