Hundreds of artists from across the region are converging on Fairhope this weekend. Vendors were busy setting up Friday morning for the 56th Annual Arts and Crafts Festival in Fairhope. There are more than 230 exhibits on display through Sunday. Organizers say last year the event drew a quarter of a million people to the artistic town. Sunshine artist magazine named this festival the 10th best in the nation. Organizer says southern charm keeps it going.“Really make these people feel at home,” says Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce official Kathie Barton. “They visit the artist. They serve them water and goodies and visit the boot set. And also the merchants downtown adopt the artists and give them a break from being in the booth all day long." The festival runs Friday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm each day.
Parking is tight. They say you should park at shopping centers at the corner of Fairhope Avenue and Greeno Road and take a shuttle.
