PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - Crash investigators are searching for
debris from two F-15-C Eagles in the Gulf of Mexico today after a
mid-air collision killed a pilot during a training exercise.
Two pilots ejected and were located by rescuers after last
night's crash.
But only one survived.
An Air Force official says the dead pilot's family was told of
the crash last night and the man's name would be released today.
Training flights from Eglin Air Force Base -- where the two
flights originated -- have been temporarily stopped while the base
mourns. Both pilots were from the 33rd Fighter Wing.
The pilot of the second single-seat F-15-C Eagle had been
released from the hospital in good condition.
