Spanish Fort Elementary School is reopening Monday: at least part of it.
The school has been closed since January 5th after lead paint was discovered.
Baldwin County School officials say state health officials told them Thursday afternoon that students in kindergarten, first grade and third grade can go back to class on campus Monday.
Health officials say their classrooms are safe.
Students in the other grades will continue to go to nearby churches until their rooms are finished.
Terry Wilhite with Baldwin County Public Schools says, "The last count I heard is more than 600 tons of stuff had been discarded and taken off this campus. We've cleaned everything but about seven classrooms on the inner-most part of the campus. Those will be cordoned off, so students won't be allowed near those classrooms."
It didn't take long for word of the re-opening to get around Spanish Fort.
John McRee says, "I'm actually very glad to hear about it. My daughter goes there and she's actually starting back school Monday."
Baldwin school officials say the building housing sixth graders should be the next part of the campus to open.
They hope to get test results on that building back by the middle of next week.
