Merceria Ludgood is the newly elected Mobile County Commissioner for District 1.Receiving over 5,430 votes Ludgood ran away with the election getting nearly 80% cast in her favor.
Ludgood beat out former County Commissioner Juan Chastang.
Chastang was removed from the position by a panel of Federal Judges back in April.
He had been appointed to the seat by Governor Riley to fill a vacancy when Mayor Sam Jones was elected.
Chastang received about 20% of the votes with just over 1,360.
