Linda Bemis has lived on Faith Avenue in Prichard's Eight Mile community for almost twenty years. She takes pride in keeping up her yard, but says she can't do it alone. "I had my hip hurt years ago...I mean I can walk but I have to walk with a walking stick. I got a neighbor that cuts my yard..I can't even cut yard anymore, "Said Bemis. And she definitely can't keep up her neighbor's property, which she says has been overgrown for two years. "Who wants to sit and look at that 24-7...I'm mean it needs to be cleaned up, something needs to be done. Prichard claims they're going to clean up lots and stuff, why don't they come out here and take a look at this and try to do something with this," Said Bemis. Bemis says she called the several city departments to the Mayor of Prichard's office for over a year now...but she says no one has responded to her calls. Bemis says she will not stop until the lot is cleaned up. "If Prichard could get out here and clean off these other lots and do for other people, they ought to be able to come out here and clean this one up," Said Bemis.A spokeswoman for the City of Prichard says they have no record of Bemis' calls. But after getting a call today from News Five, the city says they'll look into the problem.
