There was a big fireworks show Thursday night at the stadium at Mary G.Montgomery High School in Semmes to celebrate our nations birthday.
The event was called "Celebrate Freedom," and it was organized by the Orchard Assembly of God Church.
Aundrea Davis with Orchard Assembly of God said, "Its just a time to honor our country and those who have served, as well as their families."
Among those at the event was Joyce McDuffie.
Her son, Army Specialist Steven Ray Givens of Mobile, was killed on Mothers Day three years ago.
McDuffie said, "It is really nice to know that people remember and appreciate the fallen."
People had different reasons for coming to the celebration.
Roger Flowers said, "I respect anybody overseas. They do a great deal for us and we need to pray for them more often."
Terri Dueitt said she came "to listen to the music, let her grandson play on the air mattress and to watch the fireworks."
There was also a car show and a concert on the stadium grounds.
