"I thought I'd been shot by a gun shot," says Rene Cade. "My window exploded."
Cade was driving home from work around 7 o'clock Tuesday night when a rock hit his back, passenger side window. Cade says several other cars were also struck driving on the Navco Road overpass.
"My child normally sits here," said Cade, pointing to a car seat, which he says was covered in glass. Luckily, his two daughters were not with him in the truck. "Regardless of if the rock would have hit my child, the glass could have blinded her or my other child," he said.
Cade and another on-looker chased down one of the kids, who police believe threw the rocks, and held him until police arrived. The 8th grader was arrested and charged with criminal mischief, but police believe there could be as many as five more kids involved.
"It's not fun. It's not a game. You're dealing with peoples lives who are unsuspecting of objects coming through their windows," said Sgt. Marcus Young, a spokesperson for the Mobile Police Department.
Cade is the only driver to file a police report about the incident, but police say they received several calls from other motorists.
