Businesses on Florida Street have filed a lawsuit against the city after they say road closures for a drainage project made them lose business.
Now drivers are beginning to lose their patience over a similar project on Dauphin, near McGregor Avenue.
City officials say a $1.3 million dollar drainage repair project has been underway since October of last year. But the project is frustrating to both people passing by and people who live near McGregor Avenue.
"We've got to either go right, then find somewhere to turn back around or go out that way in the neighborhood and turn back around," Said Natalie Roe, who lives nearby. While construction crews lay new brick and replace old pipes, traffic has been reduced to one lane in both directions on Dauphin Street. Meantime drivers who've been dealing with the mess for the past four months are losing patience with the project. "Everytime you try to come this way, you can't. It's like this and worse," Said another driver who referred to the line of traffic.
City officials say it could take more money and several more months to complete the project.
