His name is "Justice" and that's exactly what the owners of the black lab hope they find. Someone shot the dog with a bow and arrow over the weekend in Elberta. But the same arrow that did the damage may now tell police who is responsible.
It was Sunday afternoon. Eric Sealey and Angeli Lake had been in the yard with their dog Justice. "Ten minutes later our neighbor knocked on our door," says Lake. "I heard neighbor knock on the door heard him say Justice is hurt," says Sealey. He immediately thought a car may have hit the dog. "I saw him sitting there with an arrow in his leg,"
That's right, an arrow through his leg. "It was in his left front leg all the way through it looked definitely like some body intended to kill him," says Lake.
The arrow is now evidence and it may tell police who did this, according to Elberta Police Chief Gary Peaden, "We did have a suspect we have spoken with he has denied having anything to do with it but we're looking into that a little bit further."
Lake and Sealey say Justice has never been a problem in the neighborhood. "He's loving, sweet. He is around kids all the time so I don't think he was bugging or bothering anybody," says Lake. But she admits the dog was loose when he was shot. "I think they were doing it to practice for hunting season soon," she says.
"The leash law is in effect for good reason keep stuff like this from happening but that still doesn't justify something like this from happening," says Sealey.
The good news is Justice should be fine in about six weeks. Finding justice for the injured dog may take a little longer.
Chief Peaden says if you have unwanted animals on your property just call police.
Those responsible for shooting Justice, will face animal cruelty charges.

But would this person have just as easily shot a child who was in their yard. Violence promotes violence. If the dog was in someone else’s yard, call the owner or call animal control. Animal cruelty (and this was cruel) is often the first indicator of more serious psychological problems. The problems with animal cruelty are ridiculous, but what is even more ridiculous is that often nothing is done (at least in Mobile, it seems) so I applaud the Chief Peaden in efforts to thoroughly investigate and prosecute.

good......if you cant handle the responsibility of owning an animal, whether it be feeding it and taking care of it or keeping it in a safe place then you dont deserve one. This just happens to be one of the many ways to prove that.To all of the people that are leaving comments about doing the same to the suspect as they did to the dog.....complain about something else...like maybe why there is not two sides to the story....dont be so quick to judge. There is always going to be controversy on whether it was a viscious dog or not but at that moment and time when this incident happened the only person that knew the behavior of the dog was the person who felt threatened or was just being cruel.

The person who shot the dog should have the same thing done to them.

People who do this type of thing to animals should be tied naked to a tree and shot in the testicals with a red ryder bb gun untill they pass out.

mari, that is a horrible story. You should have went higher up than the idiot at animal control. Once a dog attacks they become known as a vicious dog. A new law recently passed in Mississippi that pertains to exactly what happened to your poor pet goat. Once dogs “taste blood” they will continue to attack. I do not understand what the animal control idiot means about the shots. Check into this further, you may have that law on the books in your county.

The day Dennis came through a couple of years ago a pack of 4 dogs came into our yard, tore a whole in the fence of the pen where our pet goat lived. She was in her little house out of the rain. She had grown up with our family for 12 years. They tore her to pieces. When I talked to the owners of the dogs, one turned his two over to the Animal Control but the other did not. Animal Control said that they had their shots and that they could do nothing. What if this pack of dogs had attacked a child or even an adult, they may have killed them too. They were two bulldogs, one shepard and one Rottwiler. The smallest one was over 70 pounds and the other three over 100 pounds each. This is why we have leash laws. It protects other people and animals from the dogs and also protects the dogs from harm. Let’s all obey the leash laws.

ANYONE THAT INJURES AN ANIMAL OR A CHILD SHOULD HAVE THE SAME THING DONE TO THEM. WHOEVER SHOT THIS DOG IN THE LEG WITH AN ARROW SHOULD HAVE THEIR LEG SHOT WITH AN ARROW

This is getting ridiculous. I hope they find the who did this.
