Santa Rosa County 911 dispatch helped a Pea Ridge father deliver his second child on Saturday, August 25. Dispatcher Kevin Sowell took the 911 call from Ryan Curran at 6:50 a.m. requesting an ambulance for his wife, Lisa, who was having contractions. The baby was delivered only five minutes later at 6:55 a.m.
Sowell followed the plan in place for childbirth and assisted the father in delivering the baby girl. The father wiped the baby's mouth and nose, stimulated the baby's back and tied off the umbilical cord. Paramedics arrived a few minutes later and transported both mother and baby to Santa Rosa Medical Center. The healthy baby girl named Norah Grace weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces. Both mother and child were released from the hospital and doing well at home.
