"She was in a wheelchair and had no chance to get out," says Rogers. "I was at work so I couldn't save her. She was just a great person, she was there for everyone, she never asked for anything in return."
The fire broke out just before daybreak at the University Mobile Home Park on Fowler Avenue in Pensacola. People living in the mobile home park saw the flames and ran outside to help, but couldn't save Brown.
"It was very scary," says Lisa McCain. "Especially to know that somebody was inside trapped. The flames were so high and the fire was so hot, there was nothing we could do."
Fire investigators say the fire started in the living room. A fire marshal tells News 5 the fire appears to be an accident. The Red Cross is helping Rogers this week. The non-profit organization will pay for a motel room for Rogers this week and will give him money for food and clothes.
