A well known Mississippi lawyer who represented Hurricane Katrina victims has been indicted on criminal charges. Richard "Dickie" Scruggs is accused of trying to bribe a judge. His son Zach, former state auditor Steve Patterson and two other lawyers have also been indicted. All are accused of trying to pay a judge forty thousand dollars in cash for a favorable ruling. The judge reported the scheme to authorities. Scruggs has been in the news since Hurricane Katrina hit Mississippi. He has represented hundreds of people who fought State Farm Insurance over claims.
