A "wrong-way" driver is being blamed for a crash involving a Baldwin County Sheriff's Deputy.
Baldwin County Sheriff's Deputy Andy Ashton had almost finished his shift according to his boss, Sheriff Hoss Mack, "The other vehicle which was driven by Summar Marousky of Gulf Shores, was south bound in the north bound lane."
.Glass, paint, skid marks, scar Highway 59 where the cars collided. The impact was tremendous. "It was essentially a head on collision. Both vehicles were totaled. Both people Deputy Ashton and Miss Marousky were pinned in the vehicles almost an hour."
Just moments before the crash Deputy Ashton was at the Gulf Shores Police Department to drop off a prisoner he had arrested for driving drunk. The sheriff's office believes alcohol may have played a roll in this crash according to Sheriff Mack. "There was some evidence of alcohol in Miss Marousky's vehicle the Alabama State Troopers have ordered some blood testing in this case so at this point we don't know for sure we're going to let the test speak for themselves."
Sheriff Mack says as many as two other cars swerved to avoid Marousky before she collided with Ashton. injuries to both drivers are described as extensive.
Ashton has been with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office for three years. Marousky, on the other hand, had only recently moved to Gulf Shores according to neighbors. They say she had been there maybe three or four months.
