A judge is considering a motion to silence the family of an eleven year old girl, who they say was raped by her stepfather.

Defense attorney Michael Harbin says pre-trial publicity will prevent his client, Bob Ingle, from getting a fair trial.

Ingle, a former Chickasaw Police officer, is accused of raping Rebecca McEvoy for more than a year before she was killed in a car crash last January.
Harbin specifically named WKRG in his argument, saying "only one side is getting out," but Harbin declined to do an interview.
During an April 2nd hearing, Harbin and Ingle both entered and exited the courtroom through a backdoor, avoiding the media.

Since her death, Rebecca's family has fought to make sure her case goes to trial despite defense arguments that Ingle has a right to confront his accuser.

"We are sitting here trying to defend our little cousin," said Rhonda Wheelus, who was in court for Monday's hearing. "She doesn't have a voice anymore. We have to be her voice now."

Judge Michael Youngpeter presided over the hearing. Youngpeter said he will make a decision by May 20th.

I don’t think a gag order needs to be issued. This family is fighting for what needs to be done. If they don’t make Ingle stand trial he will abuse another child and keep doing it until he gets caught. If this was my child I would do exactly the same thing. I feel that weather or not he can face his accuser he should still have to pay for what he has done. Murderers don’t face their accusers either; their trials are based on evidence. God bless this family and the struggle they are facing.

I HOPE THIS THIS JUDGE WILL SEE INGLE FOR WHO HE TRUELY IS AND PUT HIM AWAY AND THROW AWAY THE KEY!!!! Jessica- Thanks for all your hard work and keeping Becca’s voice alive! We are so greatful for all you do and, I was wondering if this Att. has children? I wonder would he be proclaiming his clients innocense if it were his own child. Maybe, they should share the so called other side of the story! I think , everyone would love to hear it. I am Beccas cousin & we are fighting 4 justice 4 becca!!!We love & miss her very much!!All though her voice is not here 2 speak out against the heinous acts that she endured 4 over a year of her short lil life the evidence that is in place should speak 4 her & we her family wilol be her voice!!!
We cannot allow this 2 be swept under a rug & put other childrens lives in danger!!!Somebodys got 2 speak out against this horrible injustice Becca endured at the hands of her stepdad/police officer Bob Ingle!!!
She is not here 2 speak out but her last wishes were 2 have this man put away so no other child would ever have 2 suffer the horror she was subjected 2!!!She did what the law required of her now I pray the same system that she tried so hard 2 please will do the same 4 her!!

I am the cousin of Becca and all I have to say about this is..."It’s going to take a whole lot of socks & duck tape to keep us quite.Becca didn’t have a choice in the matter and this man should have to be done the same way he done to her. She had her right stolen from him and, I say “Opps! You messed-up this time- Wrong Family!!!” Wrong Child!!She was and is loved and will get her last wish if it takes us til our last breath!
