I agree with you totally Southfan1981!  My ex tells me that he’s not going to pay child support because he thinks he will be catering to my needs.  He’s such an idiot.  I make more money than he’s ever thought about making and he thinks that if he pays child support it’s going to go in my pocket.  So, he doesn’t work at all just so he won’t have any money deducted from his check..not even for taxes!!

Sweet, many judges will agree to about 20% of income for one child, perhaps 25% for a second child. I do not think it’s unreasonable to expect someone to support their child. If he is making the median income, that amount is about right. Whether it’s the woman or the man paying, the child deserves appropriate support. Why should a child have to suffer because his parent won’t work and pay or won’t go through the process to get support? Like I said, I think the child needs to be represented separately. It’s not about his wants and needs, it’s not about her wants and needs. It’s about the CHILD support.

I did the math and if he never paid that is about $800 a month.  That is outrageous.  She already should have a place to live for herself.  So you are telling me these children cost her $400 a week to support, I was assuming she would be paying half they are her kids too.

I am sure these children are so much better off because daddys in jail and now their friends can probably see his picture on the web.  Mom still don’t have any money, that did a whole world of good.  Why didn’t I think of that.  As far as having a child advocate during a divorce, what does that do.  The dad still don’t pay.  From the looks of him he probably doesn’t have a steady job or a car.  I get no child support, never asked for any and my son and I are just fine.  If I couldn’t afford to have my son I wouldn’t have. He doesn’t know if his dad pays or not.  That his none of his business, that is adult business.  He visits his dad has a good relationship with him and quite honestly his dad doesn’t have the money.  His dad told me the other day how thankful he was to have a wonderful mother for his son.  If you put down the other parent for whatever reason you are breaking down the child.

DEW, your situation is the perfect reason the child deserves his or her own representation. That child should know its father.  Mom has no right to say no to daddy who wants to make a difference. It’s idiotic that child is a pawn.

ALABAMA child support laws suck, pure and simple! I pay my baby’s mother 400$ a month CASH(money order without court order)! We have not been to court, but I soon will, so that I can get proper visitation with my son. However, even with me paying her money every month, she still does not let me see my son! The only way I can see him, is if it’s on her terms. I can take her to court, to start paying child support through the courts, but I have to hire a lawyer in order to get visitation rights, what kind of bull is that? With all the B/S DEADBEAT DADS in Alabama, you’d think the court would make it easier for me to see my son, without having to spend more money, that could be going towards HIM, rather than a lawyer!

I wonder if there is a limit to how many dead beat dads can one woman claim on say 7 kids ? One for each kid ?

Why are people doging this woman out for trying to git what her children are owed by there daddy. When you git maried and have children you never think that the one day you love will leave you later on in life. And children is what most maried people want. Its not a shame on the mother she did nothing rong the husban is the bad gie.He is no more than a theif and if he had stole you money wouldent you wont him locked up or would you say o-well it will cost me is my tax dollers to feed and cloth him so dont send him to jail let him go free with my money.He did nothing rong.

Joking aside,this topic reminds me that children need representation during divorces. They need to have someone who has THEIR best interests at heart advocating for them.. the child. Parents be damned. Maybe we need registration laws like sex offenders have. If you don’t register your new address and worksite within 30 days, the parent is in contempt. Oh wait, they are in contempt as soon as they aren’t paying the ordered amount. Sheees..
