Investigators in Baldwin County say Thomas Pinion abused a five-year old relative at a home in the Lake Forest Subdivision. A grand jury indicted Pinion earlier this week on one count of 1st degree sexual abuse. But authorities can't find him."We believe he's somewhere in South Carolina," says Major Anthony Lowery with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. "We were told by his family that he moved up there to work at a cabinet shop, but we can't confirm that."
"It's very important to get a person charged with a crime this serious off the streets," says Cpl. Jason Vannoy with the Daphne Police Department.
The Pinion name might sound familiar. Thomas Pinion's wife is the former director of Care House, a Baldwin County organization that helps sexually abused children.
"He's been entered in NCIC," says Lowery. "Any law enforcement officer can arrest him on the spot and we'll extradite from anywhere in the country."
Pinion's wife and Care House are not part of the sexual abuse investigation. Pinion's lawyer tells News 5 his client is aware of the indictment and could turn himself in later this week.
