To make matters worse, officials say the copper theft is taking a toll on the school system's budget."It's time and materials that we should be spending on upgrades we're going back and making repairs due to vandalism, and it's just an additional unexpected unbudgeted expense,"Said Tommy Sheffield with the Mobile County School System. The school system says so far the copper thefts have cost them over half a million dollars. Meantime, school officials are working with authorities to hopefully crack down on the problem.
