Colonial Mall Bel-Air and many other stores in Mobile close tonight at 6 pm.
But plenty of shoppers spent Christmas Eve buying gifts at the last minute.
Why did they wait so late?
There were different reasons.
Eva Adams of Mobile said, "I just went down the list and realized I forgot some people, so I had to run back out here and do a little more shopping."
Molly Harrell of Mobile said, "I work every single day and I don't have time to shop."
Others came looking for bargains.
Bobby and Nancy Sullivan of Grand Bay said they "went looking for a nine foot Christmas tree on sale and we can't find it."
Many shoppers plan to head to stores Wednesday to take advantage of after-Christmas sales.
