Under the cover of night, four addresses in Century were targeted. Inside, almost a dozen suspected drug dealers.
"I have citizens calling the office every day telling me to do something, do something," says Century Mayor, Freddie McCall.
Last night, they did. "We arrested ten individuals there are five or six individuals that haven't been arrested yet," says Escambia County Sheriff Ron McNesby.
Undercover officers expected to find the typical drugs, powder and crack cocaine, marijuana but instead the drug of choice in Century seems to be prescription drugs. "It seems to be more readily available," says McNesby. "It seems most anyone who has a prescription drug for a pain killer, they have pills left over and it's easy to get."
Century Mayor Freddie McCall says last night's raid is a start. "If we can stop any of it, it's going to help but this is just a dent."
The drug market in Century could be changing. "Normally we've had cocaine problems and crack and things of that nature now we're seeing more prescription drug type violations like Lortab," says McNesby.
Mayor McCall says his town hasn't seen an increase in break-ins and burglaries to get the drugs. The main complaint from citizens has been traffic congestion in their neighborhoods.
