A six-week old kitten is in critical condition after being burned, cut with scissors, and nearly drowned.Sergeant Gerald Thornton of the Chickasaw Police Department says this is one of the worst cases of animal abuse he has ever seen.
"The officers discovered several of the pads on the kitten's paws had been cut, the genitals had been burned, and there are some burns around the kitten's face and head," said Thornton.
Ralph "A.J." Fisk, 22, is charged with first degree animal cruelty. The attack happened at the apartment Fisk shared with his fiance' and their five month old son.
Fisk's fiance' discovered the kitten early Sunday morning, bloody and locked in a closet. Her mom called 911.
"I was very upset," said Virgina La Rue. "I couldn't understand how it happened."
Family members say Fisk confessed to torturing the cat, saying he lashed out after the kitten scratched him.
"If he's gonna do something to a little animal that's defenseless what can he do to my grandson," said Lenne LaRue, whose step-daughter is Fisk's fiance'. "I'm scared about that," he said.
LaRue and his wife say they do not want to see Fisk go to jail, but they do want to see him get help.
If convicted, Fisk could face up to ten years in prison.
