The man accused of brutally killing an elderly Irvington couple, then leading officers on a day long manhunt could face the death penalty.
Aubrey Lynn Shaw, 32, is charged with two counts of capital murder. He was arrested Monday afternoon in his mother's house, next door to where the victims, Bob Gilbert, 79, and his 83 year old wife, Doris, were found dead.
"He took two lives and we've only got one to take," said Darla Furby, a close friend of the Gilberts, who says she wants to see prosecutors pursue the death penalty in this case. "He should give his life for theirs," said Furby.
Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran says Shaw has been in and out of jail for the last fifteen years. His arrest record shows dozens of previous burglary and robbery charges.
Monday, Cochran told News Five he believes Shaw was trying to steal money from the Gilberts when he killed them.
Shaw's bond hearing is scheduled for Wednesday morning, but District Attorney John Tyson says he expects a judge to deny the bond because this is a capital murder case.

I have been there right along with you and I too know about all the things he did to my grandparents but its still not your business to judge.

i also grew up with him and yes i do know the real him.like when he would beat tommy with a pipe,stole money and there cars.so you can not tell me anything about the good in his heart.i have seen all the evil things he has done.

Everyone can say what they want to about Lynn but I remember Lynn growing up and he has a good heart he just got mixed up with the wrong things. What Lynn did was wrong but only the Lord can judge Lynn not all of us. I love Lynn and if he needs me I will stand by him and help him. All of you people calling for the death penalty are commiting a sin just like Lynn did in God’s eyes all sins are equal.

I agree this does not just falls on Lynn shoulders but the justice system as well he should have never got out of jail they should have put him on at least a two year inpatent drug rehab and yes so many people tryed to help him yea comments made about finding Jesus and wanting to do right may have been his way out but only God truely new his heart and its not our place to judge if that was true or not i honesly believe he was crying out for help and i think he should have got it this would have broke my nanny’s heart if she were still living i just pray for Gods will to be done

15yrs ago when he was in prison in texas his grandmother ask me to write a letter on his behalf because he found jesus and wanted to work for the lord so out of the love for his grandfather i wrote this letter when deep down i knew there was no good in him,now his time has come and now maybe the justice system will finally do whats right.

I known this family and grew up with lynn this has been going on since he has been about 14yrs old,some family members have tried to have something done but others have tried to get him out of trouble.he was not raised to be the person he has turned out to be Bob and Doris were kind and giving people and for them to lose there life like this not only falls on lynns shoulders but the justice systems as well because he should of been in jail for life along time ago the comments made about him finding jesus and wanting to do the right thing has always been his way out
