JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi lawmakers will have lots to dowhen they return to the Capitol for a special session.
Gov. Haley Barbour has added four proposals to the agenda -
voter identification; immigration; judicial pay raises; and
provisions to help utility companies working on coastal recovery
from Hurricane Katrina.
When Barbour originally announced the session, he said he wanted
lawmakers to reauthorize the state employment agency; to pass a
metal recycling bill; to limit future casino sites and to make
changes to a toll-road law.
There's also a possibility that Barbour eventually will ask
lawmakers to plug a budget hole for Medicaid.
The session starts at 10 a.m. Wednesday, and House Speaker Billy
McCoy says he expects it to last at least three days.
