The prices at the pump are high, yet traffic was bumper to bumper as thousands of people filled up Gulf Shores Beach. But folks like the Bonin family say they're spending this vacation on a budget. "Normally we would get a condo for a week but because of everything being so high, now we just kind of went for a couple days stayed with family and came to the beach for the day,"Said Nicole Bonin. Alfreda Stevens says her family is feeling the pinch too. "We usually drive out to Destin but we just decided to come close to home this year,"Said Alfreda Stevens of Mobile. The crystal blue water was just something many folks couldn't pass up. "We love it out here, it's fun, it's free..best vacation there is," Said Senerra Thomas. A family day for a lot of beachgoers this weekend, worth every minute, even if it means having to reach a little deeper in your pocket to get here. Gulf Shores Lifeguard and Rescue workers tell us, despite todays turn out, they have noticed a decline in beach-goers this holiday weekend, compared to last year.
