For 5 hours on New Year's Eve, Alabama State Troopers busted speeders on the Bayway.

Two troopers with a laser gun were lifted up in a utility bucket. When they clocked someone going too fast, they sent a radio message to one of the patrol cars.

Troopers issued about 60 speeding tickets on the busy stretch of I-10. Some drivers were even ticketed for going more than 90 mph!

Corporal Joe Piggott says any operation like this helps. "As of the 26th of December, we had 61 less fatalities than we had during the same period last year. That's just through hard work and things just like this. If they see one, they just tend to slow down. It has a soothing effect on traffic. People slow down when they see the blue lights flashing."

Consider yourself warned because troopers aren't sure when they'll do another operation like this.

To Rabidpooh.

With the name Rabidpooh you are calling us negitive? Why don’t you use the name Rabidjesus? Oh, that offended you? Sorry.

The trooper who popped you with the laser will be there in court since he is the one who saw the offense. Since the trooper will be there, he can contest to the violation.

It’s an easy equation. Don’t speed, you don’t get a ticket. You speed, you’re gonna get it. Why don’t some people understand that?

So much negativity here… the police are your friends grin

Some cities (Phoenix) have cameras that take pictures of speeders and red light runners and you get a ticket in the mail with a photo that shows the driver. If you weren’t driving, you don’t pay, but you may have to tell the judge who was driving your car/truck. No Officer involved at all.

Those who take it to court might have a case. Fact is at that time many of the citations are written to out of towners that would rather just pay the thing than come back to the region several times to fight it.
Breaking the law speeding isn’t called for! Everyone should know by now that doing so is going to catch up to them eventually. It’s about following the rules. Kinda like NOT using all caps in your comments. Just like the officer who turns his lights on to get through a light, some people feel they are above the rules.

YOU ARE RIGHT THATS NOT LEGAL. ME BEING AN EX COP IN PRICHARD THE ONLY WAY TO ISSUE A TICKET IS IF YOU SEE THE OFFENSE OCCURE. HE JUST RAIDIOING IT IN WON’T STAND IN COURT. HOW CAN THAT CAR COP TESTIFY HE WAS SPEEDING IF HE DONT HAVE IT ON RADAR? DUH

Great Idea !!!! Keep it up !!!

I AGREE WITH YOU, THERE ARE SOME OFFICERS I HAVE EVEN SEEN AMBULANCE DRIVERS TURN THEIR SIRENS ON JUST TO GET THROUGH A RED LIGHT, IF IT ISNT FAIR FOR US IT SHOULDNT ME OK FOR THEM EITHER

THATS NOT LEGAL FOR THEM TO DO THAT…... SOMEONE NEEDS TO GIVE THEM A TICKET…THEY ARE ALWAYS SPEEDING AND TURNING THERE BLUE LIGHTS ON AND RUNNING RED LIGHTS THEN TURNING THEM BACK OFF…LETS GIVE THEM A TICKET…............................
