DEKALB, Ill. (AP) - Northern Illinois University says the gunman
who opened fire in a lecture hall injuring 18 people has
killed himself.
According to the school's web site, 18 students were taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital,
all with wounds from the shooting or flying debris. Four are in critical condition.
Witnesses say the young gunman carried a shotgun and a pistol.
One student says the gunman appeared to target students in one part
of the lecture hall when the shooting started around 3 p.m.
All classes were canceled Thursday night and the 25,000-student
